Hailing from Lithuania, Surdr and Seagull Overseas are both one-man projects making some of the best dark ambient I've been exposed to. Surdr's side deals with a concept of meditation without cultural influence, so as to have closer contact with one's soul without derailment from outside forces. The notable track "37," which seems to defy from the rest in genre without straying away from the central theme, while Seagull Overseas' "Night of Past," stands out, and pleasantly so, as the only track with vocals as well as the application of guitar for more than droney sounds. The sides each, for the most part, share a common feel throughout, Surdr's being that of a wave, where as the other is more droning and constant Surdr and Seagull Overseas each have myspaces which can be found at [1] and [2], respectively. In addition, Seagull Overseas' website can be found at [3]. All material released by these artists can be downloaded for no charge from their respective sites.

"Like An Arrow" is the brand new EP release from enigmatic Sydney artists, theredsunband. Backed by four exclusive B-sides, "Like An Arrow" is their first release in over two years.

Theredsunband hit the scene with their debut album “Peapod”. The band hit the road with Evermore, End Of Fashion, The Panics, Magic Dirt and notched up supports with Sonic Youth, The Shins, Cat Power and Blonde Redhead. After two years of constant touring, they disappeared into the shadows to write & record a follow-up. Now they have flipped the switch back to loud and returned with a brand new album, a new label, and two national tours. If you love indie, lo-fi, and shoegazey dream-pop, this is your album.

Magic Dirt - Young and Full of the Devil (1998) |

4. Shrinko
5. What Have I Done
6. These Drugs Are Really Starting to Fuck Me Over
7. Short Black
8. X Ray
9. Ascot Red
10. Babycakes You Always Freeze Me Up

Magic Dirt are a band from Geelong, an industrial city near Melbourne, Australia that should have been levelled and redesigned as a toxic waste dump several years ago. Nothing ever goes the way of Geelong residents; their major bank collapsed in '91, the once booming car industry has found cheaper labour in Indonesia, and their beloved Geelong Cats football team are perennially second place in the AFL. Magic Dirt, arising from an incestuous but sometimes brilliant local band scene (their influence relies more on deceased nobodies like 'Bored' and the 'Seaweed Gorillas' than on Sonic Youth and Hole) reflected this desparation. Honest and powerful, Young and Full of the Devil is an album not to be overlooked.

This band has a similar sound to that of Weezer (Blue Album Era), and Nada Surf. Kiss The Crystal Flake contains some great playing, and in general exciting to listen to music. Lyrics play a big part in this band, and in such become almost a new instrument for the band, blending in to the atmosphere the other instruments create perfectly. All around, this is a very solid album.

12. Shadow Of A Ghost (Guilty Remix)

More of a B-sides than a true album, A Single Drop of Red is a solid offering nonetheless. The album features six remixes of tracks from the first Anarchy Club album, and five new tracks. The remixes are liked to different degrees by different people, personally, I am impartial to them, nothing to skip, but then again nothing that would excite me enough to hear it more than once. The real gems on the album are 'Blood Doll' and 'Collide', truthfully, I can't get enough of Blood Doll, one of the best tracks made by this band. If you're up for some hard rock, check this band out.

A throwback to 70s metal, such as the likes of Black Sabbath, early man combines killer riffs with driving bass, and not to mention some excellent drumming. From slow and brooding notes to brutal shredding, the well paced, and played album shines. Simply put, the musicianship is superb. 'Closing In' starts off with a bang, not a whisper, and quickly shows its intentions. As soon as the first riff hits, only one thing matters: headbanging as much as possible.

Very nice post-rock band/cd, with vocals. Even though the instrumental part is entirely different, the feeling you get from listening these guys reminds me of what I feel while listening Sigur Rós. Pure, beautiful music from Heaven. I mean, just look at the album cover. It's exactly that what you feel while listening.

You should all have this by now, if not, you aren't cool. A must have in any hipsters collection, since The Beatles are responsible for everything. They are simply the best band ever, and if you disagree, well then, get off the internet.

They have inspired everyone from Elvis to Fall Out Boy to Motzart to The Powder Puff Girls so they should inspire you to. I mean their inspiration even goes as far as Muse's OK Computer album which pays tribute to this a lot. If not touched by this album, you are probably a gay metalhead... So yeah, I said it, The Beatles are the best ever, so download this.

It's defiantly in the god tier list of hip hop albums if you ask me, so pick it up if you are a fan of the genre or not. Who knows, you may actually like hip hop for once...

94 Diskont is undoubtedly a standout in the field of electronically advanced, glitch-heavy music. In addition to having clear resonance with those primarily interested in process, this record resides in an autonomous and highly aesthetic sonic universe, where bits of production and granulated noise easily melt into warm, repetitive arrangements. 94 Diskont was made with a lot of productive mediation and gadgetry, but the seams don't show. The textures are thick and the melodies are challenging, nowhere more so than on the epic opening track "Do While." At 24 minutes, Oval take their time, but this is deep listening, and anything shorter just wouldn't do. A distant and fractured bell sound competes with a decaying, four-note organ swell for the majority of the song, while clicks and unidentified manipulations make their way in and out of the mix. Rhythm and melody emerge from unexpected places. What you initially take to be white noise settles into an odd but discernible pattern. The clicks between a skipping CD become an essential part of "Shop in Store." But perhaps even more impressive is when rhythm and melody barely emerge at all. The uncommon range of 94 Diskont is indeed one of its most powerful qualities.
