Alucard - Watch Them Fall Thursday, February 11, 2010 |

Taking his name from the anime Hellsing, and taking names from anyone who opposes him, Alucard lays down perhaps some of the most intriguing and brutal raps I've heard in a while. Make sure you're sitting down before you listen to this album.

BUT THEY CAN'T DO NOTHING TO A G

This personal fav here already starts with a killer and they go all discs long. Really, I wish I could review All Eyez On Me song by song, but there are so many and I'm lazy. If I rated them all, though, out of 5 stars, both CDs would get an average of 4.6, seriously.

Exactly the kinda shit I want when looking for rap music.

BTW, not really related, but check out this image. Pretty nice, if you browse /mu/ almost every day, like myself. There are a few albums missing, of course. Also, I raged @ MPP on essential. IMHO, though, All Eyez On Me > Me Against the World.

I've been on a rap streak and decided to post a few albums here. Starting with a God tier one, one of /mu/'s favorites.

Reasons why this album is so great:

1) SUPER NINTENDO, SEGA GENESIS
WHEN I WAS DEAD BROKE, MAN, I COULDN'T PICTURE THIS

2) Greatest rap intro ever.

3) You move your head to the beat, you lose.

And on, and on..

It's beyond me why this album is so rarely mentioned. Instrumental hip-hop esque beats played by some of the jazziest musicians around. I can do nothing but praise this album since it is really fucking good. I loved every second of it, mostly since it's so mind blowing (especially when stoned) that I couldn't help but come back to it again and again. Though I'm not advocating drug usage, but seriously this is the perfect album if you wanna kick back and "relax". But yeah, can't recommend this enough and hey, Pitchfork gave it a 7.6 so you know it isn't complete crap! (couldn't resist)

I first found out about Psyche Origami from Adult Swim believe it or not. A lot of their music is used in the programming, but I first got my hands on one of their albums from another blog (OK Music I believe) and well, it was amazing. And The Standard is simply amazing as well.

It's defiantly in the god tier list of hip hop albums if you ask me, so pick it up if you are a fan of the genre or not. Who knows, you may actually like hip hop for once...

Doomtree - False Hopes (2007) Sunday, October 26, 2008 |

1. Flex
2. Knives On Fire
3. Traveling Dunk Tank
4. A Candle in Chicago (interlude)
5. Lucky
6. Veteran

This proverbial offering of Doomtree's is an incredible album which showcases the elements of the collective talent. This album starts running and never loses speed, from the opening track Flex, which slowly fades from haunting guitar, and perfectly timed drumming into a rap with near-perfect flow, to No Homeowners, announcing that Doomtree is here to stay, it is truly an album with your time, astounding from start to finish
