Yo dawg I hurd you liek IDM so I posted some. Classic Hymen IDM from Beefcake, p.much can't go wrong there. 16 untitled tracks which all tie into eachother with a lot of nice sounds and spanning quite a few genres. Really nice stuff, like I said it's classic from the Hymen back catalog. For fans of Gridlock, Lusine, Venetian Snares, Wisp, Kattoo (who is a member of Beefcake) and many others.

Enjoy

The Caretaker - An Empty Bliss Beyond This World (2011) Sunday, May 22, 2011 |

Work with me on this. Imagine a 50s band, (with me so far?) playing mournful and yet somehow familiar tunes. Now take this band and place them within a massive cavern, and assure them that there is no escape, and they must play. That is precisely what this album sounds like. If you were wondering what kind of music sounds just like the quiet death of beauty, this would be it. There is a staid, poignant, lively, and undead quality to this album that is unlike any that I have heard before it. One of the most interesting conceptual albums I have heard in a long time, and not something you will probably hear of outside this blog. An underground album that sounds well... underground? Color me interested, and hopefully you too, dear reader.

Codeine - The White Birch (1994) Sunday, October 31, 2010 |

This was one of, if not the album, that created the slowcore genre, not to mention being some of the first proto-post rock. If you're now curious as to how this sounds, simply examine the album cover. It feels like taking a walk through a park in winter, where the air is dead, and the longer you walk the less sure you are that the park is completely real. The whole experience becomes a surreal episode, something for your memory to analyze, twist, and distort, attempting to rationalize it. It begins to snow, and you're walking through this park, into the white.

This right here is a neat album by Bogdan Raczynski, it's actually a bunch of old school hardcore and drum and bass stuff. Well actually it's a bunch of really good Bogdan Raczynski tracks meant to look like a bunch of old school hardcore and drum and bass stuff. I really like it, if you like any stuff from the Rephlex label, or from Mr. Raczynski you should like this. Sucks it was only released on vinyl and limited to 300 copies, makes it hard to find a good rip of it. But 192 should be good for everyone.

Enjoy

This album is amazing, nice ambient stuff from Squaremeter aka The Panacea (whos new album owns). For fans of The KLF which this album was pretty much influenced by, another cool thing about this album is it's composed using that fancy microsampling technique using samples from the labels back catalog. In all this is a really interesting album, so get it.

Classic album here, old stuff from Rephlex which was really really cool first time I heard it. Very abstract downtempo album with a lot of cool samples and interesting tunes. I tend to kinda drift away while listening to it as it really relaxes me, but the more I listen the more intriguing it gets. A+ stuff, give it a listen a lot of you trip hop fans may dig it despite it being a bit abstract, very jazzy stuff though.

SPCS are an experimental hip hop group from japan who pretty much uhm, is odd. Cut up samples, nice beats, etc. This is a lot more relaxed than their other albums but I kinda see that as a good thing. May just be the mood I'm in though. This album pretty much had me hooked by track 3, and because of that I've been listening to the whole thing all day.

Idk, it's a great album, I love their singer though. Hearing her sing Missy Elliott's Get Your Freak On is amazing. Definitely an interesting album.

Info:
A year long recording process involving guitar genius Justin Broadrick (Godflesh, Jesu), bass superpower Bill Laswell (Material, Praxis, Painkiller), electronic artists Submerged and Enduser, vocalist Dr. Israel, and others has culminated in the self titled debut of The Blood of Heroes. Taking its name from the Rutger Hauer film that followed Bladerunner, the group delivers on all ends from rock to dub to drum n bass to spacious sounds and fills in all corners in between. Industrial Dancehall, Metal Dubstep, Ambient Drum n Bass, the album is the crossover of crossovers – musicians creating where their heart takes them without regard for limitations. Broadrick summons some of the absolute direst guitar dirges alongside the beauty that he now explores with his Jesu project. Enduser's glitch programming strides in territories previously undiscovered, and Submerged's blocky beat sound adds girth to the post-apocalyptic nightmare of The Blood of Heroes. Dr. Israel's vocals carry warlike dancehall vibes and add a narrative sense to the record, placing us firmly in post solar flare society. Live drumming appears on several tracks, provided by Seattle's KJ Sawka (Pendulum) and Budapest's Balazs Pandi (Merzbow, Venetian Snares). Additional sound design and guitars are provided by film sound editor and designer M. Gregor Filip, one of the original founders of Ohm Resistance.

Come on, you know it sounds awesome just from who is part of this, and yes it is good, really good. Just download it, really, download it. Oh and buy it, this album is well worth all the money.

Can someone say best of 2010?
