What a good album! The something or other piece indie-baroque band from Canada has created a beautiful album on their first try, how impressive. But what does this mean as far as the music goes? It begins with snow, and falls into dense haitian jungles, and you realize that you've spent your life in the backseat. Violins, cello, and intense vocals bring you to places you've never been before, but want to go to again. A truly beautiful album.

LSD and the Search for God is a shoegaze band from San Francisco, California. Forming in 2006, I guess they could be considered "newgaze," but they definitely don't sound much like the other newer shoegaze bands. Their sound is very close to Slowdive. The vocals, the instrumentation, just about all of it is similar. Favorite Tracks: This Time, Starting Over.

I don't know how many of you know of Mimas, but they are an Indie band that is often categorized as Post-Rock, Indie, and self-categorized as "Death Indie." In my opinion, they sound like a mixture of Sigur Ros and Built To Spill. Some other blog said they're a mixture of Sigur Ros and Isis (lol). Either way they're pretty nice to have. Favorite Tracks: Cats On Fire, Treehouse. Enjoy!

OK, I don't know if you're a GY!BE fan, but I know I am. Over the years, everyone could hear people talking shit, when looking for a similar band, like "Hey, get this one band! It reminds me of GY!BE!" And I got a lot of those albums. Everything was meh; good, but nowhere near its beauty.

THIS album I'm posting is a lot like 'em. And I do mean a lot. Four songs, all of them are over 15 minutes, there's no singing, only people talking random stuff eventually, melodies come and go, there's sirens, and on.

Goes without saying, but I'll do it anyway: get it if you're a GY!BE fan. Get it if you enjoy post-rock and long songs. Get it you're into ambient music.

PS.: Tags are fucked up. Kinda. Last.fm has tons of variations (some with .. after every title, some with no I - in front of them), so when you download the album, just go to their last.fm page and choose the ones you'll use.

"In collaboration with Dutch radio station, VPRO and the Kora Records, we’ll be releasing a new recording titled Over Air. The album will include a mastered version of our session at Desmet Studios for VPRO, along with many extras, including HD quality videos and a recording or two that hasn’t been officially released. This will be a fairly limited pressing, distributed on tour and through Kora Records." From GregorSamsa.com

Gotta love teh leaks. So, yeah, live album. No crowd sound, tho, from what I'm listening right now. This album has a few songs from their 2008 (Rest) album, which is great. Maybe I'll post it here later. Get it if you're already a fan. Get if you're curious.

Don't mind me, just posting recently leaked stuff.

About Beirut, I'm not sure what to say. They're weird. You could label them as folk, indie or whatever but, IMHO, it's like circus music. Or like some say, gypsy music. There's lots of horns and accordions, so kinda agree on that, and no, it's not as stupid as it sounds. Pretty funny shit.

EDIT: WTF, there's electronic. Tags updated.

Oh yeah, I forgot when I made the last post that I already had a favorite stoner band. So, you guys probably already know Down, but I'll say this anyway. A buncha nice peeps from great similar bands decided to gather and form this. Phil from Pantera, Keenan from Corrosion of Conformity, Windstein from Crowbar and Bower from Eyehategod. So you can pretty much guess what this album is made of: awesome.

It's cool, chilly and yet heavy as fuck. Stone The Crow, track n°10, their most famous song I believe, it's a perfect example of that.

OK, so, I'm definately not the best person to talk about this, but I'll do it anyway. I say this 'cause stoner music is not really my thing. IMHO, it should be heavier, but then shit'd be metal. Whatever.. If you're into stoner, you probably already have this - if not, you should. And if you never heard it before, now it's a great opportunity to give this guys a shot.

A great soundtrack to a great movie. There are a few songs that are not by Gustavo, and they suck. But most of the CD is beautiful ambient music. Highlights are: Can Things Be Better and the last two ones. Especially When Our Wings Are Cut, Can We Still Fly? It's borderline nihilistic.

Oh, and if you've never watched the movie, do it. Great drama.

8. Arrival / The Intention Craft
9. He Tried To Show Them Magic! / Ambassadors Return

The debut album from London’s Pure Reason Revolution, The Dark Third suggests that progressive rock, long-treated as a pariah in self-respecting musical circles, is no longer afraid to speak its name. Boasting a name inspired by Kantian philosophy, a number of songs in two distinct ‘movements’, and a flagship single – the mighty "The Bright Ambassadors Of Morning" – that clocks in at twelve minutes in length, here is a band unafraid to untether the unicorns of ambition and let them gallop free. This is not always a wise idea. Without the sheer, dazzling proficiency of Yes or the hulking heaviness of King Crimson, affairs occasionally get bogged down in a mire of sub-Sigur Ros atmospherics that drift along with little discernable purpose. There are, however, a number of saving graces: the Beach Boys-inspired vocal interplay of John Courtney and Chloe Alper, voices coalescing in lullaby-like harmonies; or an occasional, sparking heaviness that manifests most clearly on the tricksy, hard-riffing climax to ‘The Twyncyn/Trembling Willows’.
